El Presidente del Banco Central de Chile, Mario Marcel, encabezó la ceremonia de inauguración de las obras de restauración de la fachada del edificio institucional del instituto emisor iniciadas en octubre de 2016 y que fueron las más relevantes realizadas desde los años 40 del siglo pasado.
Estas labores, que se extendieron por 16 meses, devolvieron a la fachada los detalles originales que fueron sufriendo daños propios del paso del tiempo y de los frecuentes sismos.
Como coincidencia, el edificio del Banco Central está cumpliendo 90 años desde su construcción, obra del arquitecto Alberto Cruz Montt.
