Shot of old rafter beams from a structure that likely once stood nearby. Approximate location of the spill gate and sandbox along the flume between Fossil Springs diversion dam and Irving power station site. The goal in exploring this site was to replicate Historic American Engineering Record photos (AZ-65-E) housed by the Library of Congress: www.loc.gov/pictures/item/az0549/ The ruins of the building in the historic photos was not positively identified.

Activity Summary: Francisca Adrian, Bill Shoemaker, and Deborah Soltesz did a quick clean-up and monitoring backpacking trip through Fossil Springs in mid-November. They hiked down Fossil Springs Trail, stayed the night at Fossil Springs, then left on the Flume Trail to the old Irving power facility site. The team destroyed several illegal campfire rings, picked up trash, and looked over the area to assess impacts following the 2017 permit season.
