Congressional staffers representing U.S. senators and representatives from Iowa and Illinois made their annual visit to Rock Island Arsenal Aug. 25. Island leadership from various commands at RIA discussed the status of the arsenal, their visions of the future, and the Army’s top priority of readiness.
The visit included stops at First Army Headquarters, the U.S. Army Sustainment Command Headquarters, the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center, and the RIA Golf Clubhouse.
Staffers in attendance included: James Rice, legislative assistant for U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa; Rob Leonard, national security adviser for U.S. Sen. Richard “Dick” Durbin of Illinois; James Jarosz, military legislative assistant for U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois; Abbey Overland, legislative assistant for U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa; Ally Fields, legislative assistant for U.S. Rep Cheryl “Cheri” Bustos of Illinois; Erin Schnell, staff assistant for U.S. Rep. David Loebsack of Iowa; Andrew Spyrow, regional director for Sen. Ernst; Penny Vacek, regional director for Sen. Grassley; Jared Mullendore, district representative for Rep. Loebsack; Reggie Freeman, mayor of East Moline, Illinois; Frank Klipsch, mayor of Davenport, Iowa; and Jason Gordon, Quad City Chamber of Commerce and Davenport alderman.
