My Chicago night shots were some of my first serious attempts to try night-time HDR. Previous attempts were always riddled with noise which led to disappointment.
The opportunity during my trip to Chicago was too good to pass up so I decided to give it another shot. With a lot of trial, error and research I realised that where I was going wrong; I was using Tone mapping in Photomatix instead of Fusion, my workflow was all wrong for the look I was going for. Fusion works far better for night shots and it makes noise far more manageable; results tend to look a lot more natural too.
So, this is one of those shots, turned monochrome just to add some variation to the theme. I am looking forward to capturing and sharing more, even better night shots in the future!
